Imagine your ideal day. Take some time to think about it, to really put yourself in that day.

Start with where and how you would wake up in the morning and think through the whole day until you go to bed. It could be based on a day you’ve lived or one you long for.

Include the smells and the sounds, what you’d see and taste. Include the texture of your day and how you’d feel. Don’t write what you think you’re supposed to want or do. Don’t get stuck in reality or edit out the things that “could never happen.” Let yourself dream and admit what your ideal day really looks like.

Questions to Explore Your Ideal Day

  • Where would you be?
  • Who would be with you?
  • What would you do?
  • What would you not do?
  • How would you like to feel?

Do you have many ideal days? Choose one and describe it in great detail. You can always do this practice again with a different ideal day.

It can be lovely just to dream about your ideal day, but imagine taking steps that bring you closer to the day you dream of. What small step could you take today?
